I consider myself a ‘Curator of Simple’ and I love working with ambitious women, especially moms, to discover their bold, brave and beautiful selves as they create and embrace a simple life.
I’m a wife, a mom, a rescue dog lover, a bacon eater and a tornado survivor.
I grew up on a farm in the Midwest and stayed in that area until 2013 when my family and I let go of nearly 75% of our belongings and moved to Maine to realize my dream to live by the ocean.
I’m a homebody who loves to travel and I’ve seen most of the US and half of Canada in an RV with my family. I’m on a quest to visit all seven continents (especially Antarctica) with my family and I am a firm believer in a life of experiences over things. I love gathering with friends-in real life-sharing good food, good wine and most of all, good stories.
I’ve loved organizing things and creating beautiful spaces for as long as I can remember and my work has always involved organizing and simplifying. After graduating with a degree in accounting, I spent nearly two decades using my coaching and organizing skills during my financial reporting and management career. After climbing the corporate ladder at what was once a top five accounting firm, I took a leap and started my first company, Simple Joy Organizing, working with women as a Professional Home and Photo Organizer.
My move across the country meant letting go of that company to start Simple Joy Living, LLC, which has given me many new opportunities. I’ve shared my story on podcasts around the world and I’ve written articles and guest posts for a variety of organizations. I’ve applied my organizing skills on an episode of A&E’s Hoarders and I’ve traveled the country attending conferences to support my continued learning.
I now bring all of my years of training and experience to my work with clients as a Simple Living Coach & Consultant. I speak to and work with women across the country and I lead classes, workshops and simple living retreats in Maine.
I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed, overcommitted and surrounded by too much stuff but I also know what it’s like to simplify your home and life and realize dreams that turn out even better than you can imagine. I know firsthand that the “how” will come once you decide, then commit to pursuing what you really want.
I understand the value of aligning myself with organizations and individuals that support my continued advancement. I’ve invested thousands of dollars in coaches and training over the years and I continuously take classes to stay educated in the coaching and simple living industries to best serve my clients.
To that end, I have been a member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals) since 2013. I am co-leader of the NAPO Coaching Special Interest Group, am a member of the NAPO Authorship & Publishing and Speaking for Fees Special Interest Groups and the NAPO Virtual Chapter and am a NAPO University Instructor. I am also a member of APPO (Association of Personal Photo Organizers) and am a Certified Photo Organizer.
I obtained Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credentialing through ICF (International Coach Federation) and am a member of ICF and ICF New England. I spent 2 1/2 years in coach training through The Institute for Life Coach Training and I continue to take courses to maintain my credentialing.
